Do Wide Shoes Look Bigger in the UK?

Wide shoes can look broader from above, but they do not automatically look longer or bulky. The visible effect depends more on toe shape, sole flare, colour blocking and upper design than on the width label alone.

How to fit-test it

Measure both feet later in the day and use the larger foot. Wear the socks and any insole intended for normal use. Check toe clearance, forefoot pressure, instep contact and heel movement separately.

Walk, turn and perform safe activity-specific movements indoors. The forefoot should not spill over the sole, the toes should lie flat, and the heel should not lift repeatedly. Do not squeeze into a narrow shoe for appearance. A longer standard shoe may look larger than the right length in a wide fitting.
